I’m Azhar, and hotels fascinate me.
Everything about hotels fascinates me. How they operate. Their economics. The systems that separate profitable properties from failing ones.
I spent over a decade inside the hospitality industry learning how these systems actually work. Not from textbooks. From doing the work.
I started at Flora Airport Hotel Kochi. I’ve worked across sales, operations, HR, finance, and revenue management. I also closely worked with Flora Hospitality‘s UAE operations and saw how these functions scale when managing over 3,000 keys across multiple properties.
In 2016, I left my role at Flora to build Zarnik, a hospitality supplies company—one supplier for everything hotels need with nationwide delivery. More recently, I built Portico Webworks, which gives mid-scale and upper mid-scale hotels professional digital presence.
I also consult for hotels, one project a year on pre-openings or repositioning. The consulting keeps me connected to what hotel owners actually face and validates what we’re solving at Zarnik.
I don’t have a degree in hospitality. What I have is a decade of seeing how hotels work and where they fail. When I see a problem repeat, I try to build a solution for it.
I share what I’ve learned on this website.
